Having lived in on different edges of the Pevensey levels most of our lives, the discovery of this area’s history is a revelation. Enriched by experiencing the landscape our understanding of it’s found information is reimagined. Artefacts, stories and people are being interwoven around the edge, and across the levels, making a layered picture of then and now, from the dead and living. Digging up, revealing, cataloging, broken bits of memory underground, trigger emotional remains.
I step in the past and future with each stride
running between veils in time and out of time
behind ahead below above
immersed slowed down stopped
violently chasing bones on the shoreline
falling on the edge.
